Through the Spencer County Community Foundation Community Good Grants Cycle, the Spencer County Habitat for Humanity was awarded $8,000 to cover the drywall expense for the Habitat for Humanity home in Chrisney, and $1,000 to cover the cost of the Dave Ramsey course to assist homeowners in becoming better at budgeting, taking care of themselves, their families, and their homes.
Spencer County’s Habitat for Humanity affiliate uses a pay-it-forward financial model. This model is constructed in a way that when Habitat homeowners submit their mortgage payments, Habitat utilizes that as seed money to fund the construction of a new home.
